Managing Yourself

Our self-management programs cover a wide range of topics, going from trainings for business executives to preparing professionals to maintain a high performance in crisis situations, such as pilots, surgeons, police force and the army. The main focus of our self-management programs is on receiving powerful insights into your own brain, the rules under which it operates and how to apply these rules to be in charge of yourself.

High Performance – Unlocking Potential in the Brain

Performance equals potential minus our interferences. These inferences are in many cases related to stress, dealing with pressure, negative emotions and detrimental impulses. From neuroscience, we know now which brain systems are involved in our potential and which ones are driving our interferences. This program brings you to a new understanding of what is positively and negatively driving your decisions and behavior by means of self-analysis tools. Different techniques will be applied to regulate unproductive states of mind, with the main target to reach a balanced state of mind, in which you will excel and yet retain your energy and capacity. These low-cost techniques will be trained to apply in daily life with immediate effects on performance, with the ultimate goal to reach your highest potential.

Flexible and Creative Minds – when Change is the only constant

Creativity is the central key to thrive in a world of accelerating change. The most important requirement for creativity is a flexible mindset and a good dose of agility. Research has shown that flexible mindsets and agility can be reached through self-regulation, which is the most important predictor for personal and professional success. Self-regulation is the ability to recognize and regulate thoughts, impulses and emotions in order to reach higher goals, such as the creation of new ideas. In a constantly changing world, our self-regulation capacity is overly challenged, which frequently results in a fall back into habitual thinking with detrimental effects on our creative processes.

In the last decade, neuroscience has contributed significantly to our understanding of self-regulation, potential development, flexible and habitual thinking and intelligent decision making. The functioning of our brain follows specific rules, which are of crucial importance to induce a long lasting mindset change. This training translates these brain rules in a very simple and practical way, implying that participants will work on the core of the improvement process.

Mastering the use of Tool 3 (5-step Model), available as ‘Flexible and Creative Minds Map’ that represents the guidelines for creativity and innovation.
  • To assure a transfer into daily life after the seminar, all tools are designed to be used in the office. In addition, the use of existing teams and/or business topics in the workshop will furthermore facilitate this transfer.

Executive Presence

How do I present myself as an executive? A self-confident executive presence brings trust, respect and success. Presenting yourself as a self-confident person can be challenging under stress, when people are observing you or when you simply are having a bad day. Loss of self-confidence is easily picked up by others, which can result in the loss of trust by your team or boss. This training focuses on understanding of what is driving your behavior by means of self-analysis tools. Different techniques will be applied to regulate negative states of mind that impact your executive presence, with the main target to reach a balanced state of mind, in which you can excel and present yourself as such.

High Performance in Crisis Situations

Neuroscience provides us with a clear insight into what happens in our brain when we are confronted with a threat from outside, such as a wild animal approaching us or someone trying to harm us. In these situations, a neural network becomes active that sets off a stress reaction in your body, triggering immediate action. Although this might seem as the appropriate action to deal with a wild animal or aggressive person, this same system also drives behaviour in alarming situations, such as during a technical defect during a flight or sudden alarm signals during a medical operation. However, immediate action in these situations can have fatal consequences. This training focuses on the use of a non-cognitive strategy to instantly down-regulate levels of stress and thereby reduces the possibility of an immediate action in crisis situations. The instant down-regulation of levels of stress, without relying on cognitive resources further assures a preservation of cognitive capabilities to deal with standard emergency procedures.
